Quick answer

We install seamless gutters and gutter guards throughout Saunders County, from Wahoo and Ashland to Yutan, Mead, Ceresco, Valparaiso and Cedar Bluffs, and on the farmsteads and acreages in between. Our own crews form each run on site, fit guards to the trees overhead and gutter shops, garages and barns. Call us any hour.

Saunders County was formed in 1856 and named for territorial governor Alvin Saunders. Ashland held the county seat first, but an 1873 vote moved it to Wahoo, where it remains. The Platte River forms the county's northern and eastern edges, so most homes here are never far from river timber or open fields.

The county is growing, from 22,278 residents in 2020 to an estimated 23,702 in 2025, and much of that growth is on acreages within commuting distance of Omaha and Lincoln. Newer homes on 3 to 10 acre lots go up next to century-old farmhouses, and both need gutters that suit long eaves and windy, open ground.

Wahoo blocks, Ashland streets and open-country builds

In Wahoo and in Ashland, which grew up in 1870 at a limestone ford on Salt Creek, the older blocks hold frame houses and bungalows with modest eaves and many layers of paint on the trim. Gutters on these homes are often sectional aluminum hung long ago with spikes. When spikes back out the run sags, water sits, and the fascia behind it starts to soften.

Out in the country the newer builds are bigger and more exposed. With no neighboring houses or mature trees to break the wind, gutters on these homes take the full force of storms crossing open fields. We use hidden hangers screwed into rafter tails at close spacing and keep outlets clean so a run stays put when a strong gust pushes water sideways along the eave.

Shelterbelts, river timber and open wind

Farmsteads here usually sit behind a shelterbelt of cedar, pine or mixed hardwoods, and the river edges carry cottonwoods that release seed fluff each late spring. Pine needles and cottonwood fluff are the two hardest things for a gutter to shed, which is why guard choice comes up on so many Saunders County visits.

Hail is the other constant. One 2025 analysis of NOAA and FEMA data ranked Nebraska first in the country for hail risk, averaging 534 hail events a year from 2021 to 2024, and open farm country takes its share. Dented aluminum still drains, but crushed downspouts and cracked corners do not, so we check both after any storm that leaves marks on the siding.

Saunders County essentials

Gutter Guard Installation

Shelterbelt pines and river cottonwoods drop needles and fluff that clog open gutters. A guard picked for those trees cuts down on climbing a tall ladder on an acreage house.

Micro-Mesh Gutter Guards

Fine stainless mesh blocks pine needles and fluff better than any screen, and it holds up under the wind and debris that open country throws at it.

Garage, Shed and Barn Gutters

Farm shops, pole barns and detached garages are everywhere here. Seamless gutters sized for steel roofs keep water off overhead doors and stop ruts along the walls.

Seamless Gutter Installation

New acreage homes have long eaves exposed to wind. One-piece runs with close hidden hangers stay tight where pieced sections would work loose at the joints.

Sagging Gutter Repair

Spike-hung gutters on older Wahoo and Ashland homes often droop between hangers. We reset them with screws into solid wood and correct the slope as we go.

Hail Damage Gutter Replacement

Exposed farm country takes hail head on. We photograph and measure damaged runs and downspouts, then replace them when you are ready.

Open-country homes take the full force of wind, so hanger spacing matters on long eaves.

Across the county

Wahoo sits near the center of the county, with Mead and Yutan to the northeast toward the Platte and Ceresco and Valparaiso to the south near the Lincoln side. Ashland lies in the southeast corner off Interstate 80, close to the Strategic Air and Space Museum, Mahoney State Park and the Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari. From there it is a short run into Cass County or down to Lancaster County, and Cedar Bluffs sits up near the river across from Dodge County.

FAQ

Gutter questions from Saunders County

Which gutter guard handles pine needles from a farmstead shelterbelt?

Pine needles poke through perforated screens and lodge in foam inserts, so stainless micro-mesh is usually the best fit. The fine weave keeps needles on top, where wind and rain carry most of them off. Some needles will still collect along the back edge, so a quick brushing once or twice a year keeps the mesh flowing. See gutter screens for a lower-cost option under broadleaf trees.

Do you install gutters on new acreage homes between Wahoo and Ashland?

Yes. New acreage builds are a large share of our Saunders County work. We schedule after the roof and fascia are finished, plan downspouts with the grading so water leaves the house toward the low side of the lot, and often go to 6 inch gutters on long, steep roof planes. Detached shops can be done on the same visit.

Why do my older Wahoo gutters sag between the hangers?

Older gutters were often hung with long spikes through a metal sleeve, and freeze and thaw slowly works them out of the fascia. Add ice or a ladder leaning on the lip and the run drops. We replace spikes with hidden hangers screwed into solid wood about every two feet and fix any rotted fascia first. Our price guide shows typical repair ranges.

Is it worth putting gutters on a pole barn on a Saunders County acreage?

Usually yes, if people or equipment use the doors. Without gutters a steel roof drops a sheet of water along the eave that digs a trench, splashes mud on the walls and freezes in front of overhead doors in winter. A wide seamless gutter with oversized downspouts moves that water to one spot you choose, such as a drain line or a rain barrel.
