Gutter Installation and Repair in Douglas County, NE 68102
Douglas County runs well past the Omaha city limits. Out west the subdivisions thin into acreages, shops and pole barns along the Elkhorn River, and every one of those roofs drains a little differently.

Quick answer
We install seamless aluminum gutters, repair sagging and leaking runs and fix drainage across Douglas County, from older Omaha blocks to the acreages around Bennington, Valley and Waterloo. Our own crews form gutters on site from coil, size downspouts to the roof and handle detached garages and outbuildings as readily as houses. Call us any hour.
Douglas County was organized on November 23, 1854, named for Senator Stephen A. Douglas, with Omaha as its seat. It is now the most populous county in Nebraska, counting 584,526 people in 2020 and an estimated 606,460 by 2025 on about 326 square miles of land.
Most of those people live inside Omaha, but our work here does not stop at the city edge. Ralston is hemmed in by Omaha on three sides, Bennington keeps its own small downtown, and west of the Elkhorn River the county opens into farm ground where one driveway can lead to a house, a detached shop and a horse barn.
Three housing eras and the acreages beyond them
Nearly half of Omaha's homes were built before 1970, and close to one in five went up in 1939 or earlier. Those houses carry deep eaves, wood fascia painted many times over and, on some, built-in box gutters hidden in the cornice. On them the first thing we check is the board behind the gutter, because a new run is only as solid as the wood it screws into.
Next comes the postwar ranch belt, then the newer west side and the Bennington area, where builders put up two-story homes with tall gables and long roof planes. Those roofs push a lot of water to a few corners, and many were finished with 5 inch gutters and 2x3 downspouts that spill in a hard June storm, so 6 inch gutters are often the answer. Acreage homes add one more case: steel-roofed outbuildings with no gutters at all, where water drops off the eave and cuts a trench along the slab.
Tornado path, hail and river bottom ground
On April 26, 2024, an EF4 tornado tracked 31.2 miles from Elkhorn through Bennington and on to Blair, one of 25 tornadoes the Omaha weather office logged that day. Golf ball sized hail fell around Bennington in the same storms, and on April 24, 2025, Ralston reported stones about 3 inches across. Wind tears gutters off fascia; hail leaves rows of dents in the top lip and crushes downspout faces.
Much of the eastern county sits on loess, the fine wind-laid silt blown out of the Missouri River valley after the glaciers, which holds water against a basement wall when it stays wet. Near Valley and Waterloo the land flattens into Elkhorn and Platte river bottoms, where a downspout dumping beside the foundation keeps the soil soaked for days.

Seamless Gutter Installation
On west side two-story homes with tall gables, one-piece runs formed on site to the full length of each eave remove the joints that open up after a few freeze and thaw cycles.

Acreages near Bennington, Valley and Waterloo have detached shops and pole barns whose steel roofs shed snow in sheets. Wider gutters with closer hanger spacing hold up to that load.

After the 2024 and 2025 hail, plenty of county homes still carry dented gutters. We photograph and measure the damage so you have a clear record for your adjuster.

Older Omaha houses often have spike and ferrule hangers backing out of tired fascia. We replace them with hidden hangers screwed into solid wood about every two feet.

Nebraska Extension advises discharging at least 5 feet from the foundation. On loess and river bottom soil that is the cheapest basement protection there is.

Pre-war homes in the older parts of the county still hide box gutters in the cornice. Relining them before rot spreads saves the trim and keeps the period look.

Getting around the county
Our Omaha office sits downtown on South 13th Street, a short drive from the riverfront where the Missouri River forms the county's eastern edge. From there crews head west on Dodge Street or Interstate 80 toward Millard and Elkhorn, north to Florence and Bennington, and out past the Elkhorn River to Valley and Waterloo. We also cover Sarpy County to the south and Washington County to the north, where the 2024 tornado ended its run near Blair.

FAQ
Gutter questions from Douglas County
Do you put gutters on detached shops and barns out past Bennington?
Yes. Outbuildings are regular work for us across western Douglas County. Steel roofs on pole barns shed snow and rain fast, so we often go to 6 inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts, add hangers at tighter spacing and pick discharge points that keep water away from overhead doors and gravel drives. Tell us the building size and roof type when you call and we can talk through options.
My Omaha house was built in the 1920s. Can new gutters go on the old fascia?
Often, but we check first. On homes that old the fascia may be original boards with many coats of paint and soft spots hidden behind the old gutter. We probe the wood along every run. Sound boards get new seamless gutters on hidden hangers, and rotted lengths get new fascia the same day so the hangers have something solid to bite into.
How can I tell if the 2024 Douglas County storms hurt my gutters if they still drain?
Draining is not the same as undamaged. Look along the top lip for a line of small dents, check downspouts for crushed faces near the top, and watch for runs that pulled slightly off the fascia or lost their slope. Wind can twist hangers without dropping the gutter. A gutter inspection with photos shows what changed and whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
Do you work in Ralston, Valley and Waterloo or only inside Omaha?
We cover the whole county, including Ralston, Bennington, Valley, Waterloo and the acreage roads between them. Ralston sits tucked between Omaha and La Vista, so it is a quick stop for our crews. Valley and Waterloo sit low near the rivers, so we spend extra time there on where each downspout ends. The same crews, the same coil machine and the same phone line serve every corner of Douglas County.
