Quick answer
We repair and replace gutters across Dodge County, including Fremont, North Bend, Scribner, Hooper, Nickerson and Inglewood, plus farmsteads along the Platte and Elkhorn valleys. Our own crews fix leaks and sags, tear off worn systems, install seamless runs and route downspouts away from foundations on level ground. Call us any hour.
Dodge County was created in 1854 and named for Iowa senator Augustus C. Dodge. Fremont, the seat, was laid out in 1856 on the Platte River about 35 miles northwest of Omaha and named for the explorer John C. Fremont. With 27,141 people in 2020, Fremont is the sixth largest city in the state and home to Midland University.
The county as a whole counted 37,167 residents that year. Beyond Fremont it is mostly small towns and farmland split by two rivers: the Elkhorn crosses the county and joins the Platte, which forms the southern line. That geography shows up in nearly every job we do here.
Older Fremont streets and valley farmsteads
Fremont's older neighborhoods hold two-story frame houses, foursquares and bungalows, with postwar ranches filling in toward the edges of town. Many still carry the second or third set of gutters they ever had, often sectional aluminum with seams every 10 feet. Those seams leak first, then the fascia behind them softens, and finally the hangers lose their grip and the run pulls away.
In North Bend, Scribner and Hooper the homes are smaller-town versions of the same mix, and the farmsteads add outbuildings, grain-side shops and garages. A full replacement on these properties often includes the house and a shop on the same visit, each sized to its own roof.
Flat ground and river bottoms
Level valley ground leaves water few places to go. When a downspout empties right next to a foundation on flat land, the water soaks in beside the wall instead of running off, and basements take the hit. Nebraska Extension recommends discharging at least 5 feet out and grading soil about 2 percent away from the house, which on dead-flat lots often means extensions or a buried line to a low spot.
The river corridors are lined with cottonwoods, Nebraska's state tree since 1972, and older town lots often have silver maples. Both seed heavily in late spring. Clogged gutters overflow at the front edge and dump water right at the foundation, which defeats any downspout plan, so cleaning on schedule matters here.

Leaking Gutter Repair
Sectional gutters on older Fremont homes drip at every seam and corner. We clean, reseal and re-rivet joints, and tell you plainly when a run is past patching.

When hangers, seams and fascia have all failed, a tear-off and seamless replacement costs less over time than repairing the same gutters each spring.

On flat valley lots a downspout that empties at the wall soaks the soil against the basement. Extensions carry water at least 5 feet out, as Nebraska Extension advises.

Where a yard has no natural fall, buried solid pipe to a pop-up emitter or the street side moves roof water well clear of the foundation.

Settled houses and old hangers leave gutters holding water. Re-hanging to a string line restores the fall toward each downspout.

Years of seam leaks rot the board behind the gutter. We replace soft fascia before new gutters go up so hangers screw into solid wood.

Fremont and the valley towns
Fremont sits in the south of the county along the Platte, with Inglewood just across from it and Nickerson and Hooper strung up the Elkhorn valley to the north. Scribner is farther north and North Bend lies to the west, on the Platte. Our crews come from the Omaha office through Douglas County, and we also cover Washington County to the east and Saunders County across the Platte.

FAQ
Gutter questions from Dodge County
My Fremont lot is flat. Where should my downspouts empty?
On flat ground the goal is distance, because the soil will not carry water away on its own. We aim for at least 5 feet from the foundation and look for any spot lower than the house, such as a side yard or the street side. Where there is none, a buried solid pipe to a pop-up emitter works. We avoid outlets near window wells, driveways or a neighbor's lot.
Should I repair or replace 30-year-old sectional gutters in Dodge County?
If the problem is one leaking corner or a single sag, repair makes sense. If seams leak along every run, the slope is gone and the fascia is soft in places, replacement usually wins. We look at hangers, joints, slope and the wood behind before giving an honest answer. See our price guide for typical repair and replacement ranges.
Do you work on farm buildings outside North Bend and Scribner?
Yes. Shops, machine sheds, garages and barns are regular work for us in the farm country around North Bend, Scribner and Hooper. Steel roofs usually get 6 inch seamless gutters with 3x4 downspouts and close hanger spacing for snow slides, and we can often do the house and the shop in one trip.
Why does my gutter overflow at the front edge near Fremont even after rain stops?
Water spilling over the front during and right after rain usually means a clog at the outlet or in the first elbow. Cottonwood fluff and maple seed from late spring pack into a tight plug there. We clear the gutter, flush and snake the downspout and check whether the run still slopes toward the outlet. Downspout unclogging covers the details.
