Quick answer

In Bennington we install seamless aluminum gutters on rebuilt and new homes, repair storm damage, and take gutters down and rehang them for roofing and siding crews. We form each run on site, set hidden hangers into solid wood and size downspouts to the roof. Call us any time, day or night.

On April 26, 2024, an EF4 tornado traveled 31.2 miles from Elkhorn through Bennington and on to Blair, one of 25 tornadoes the National Weather Service tracked in its Omaha area that day. The same storms dropped golf ball sized hail around Bennington. Many homes lost gutters outright, and many more were left with dents, bent hangers and downspouts torn loose.

Bennington began in the 1880s as Bunz Town, a stop on the Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad, and was later renamed for Bennington, Vermont. It counted about 2,000 residents in 2020 and has been adding subdivisions on the edges of town, so our work here splits between storm repair and gutters for brand new houses.

Rebuilt homes, new subdivisions and the original town

The older streets near the center of town have modest ranches and story-and-a-half homes with simple rooflines. The newer neighborhoods have larger two-story homes and walkout ranches with steeper roofs and more valleys. Rebuilt houses fall somewhere in between, often with new roofs and siding but gutters that were rushed back on during the busy months after the storm.

That rush shows. We find runs hung with too few hangers, pitch that sends water to the wrong end, and downspouts reused from before the storm with the dents still in them. When a roofer replaces the shingles, the gutters should come off and go back up with new hangers, which is exactly what detach and reset work covers.

Wind, hail and open farm ground

Bennington sits on the northwest side of the metro with farm ground on several sides, so storms reach it with little to break the wind. Gutters here take hail on the face and gusts under the back edge. Hidden hangers screwed into the rafter tails every two feet or so hold far better than old spikes, and that spacing matters when wind catches a long run.

Shelterbelts and creek-side cottonwoods drop fluff in late spring, and the young trees in new yards will add leaves soon enough. On a home that was rebuilt with new gutters, it is worth deciding on guards now rather than after the first clog.

Gutter Detach and Reset

New Construction Gutters

Growth around Bennington brings a steady stream of new homes. Hanging gutters before final grade lets downspouts land where the drainage plan needs them.

Gutter Re-Pitching

Gutters put back in a hurry after the storm often slope the wrong way and hold water. We reset them to a string line so every run drains toward its outlet.

Bennington and the northwest metro

Bennington is in northwest Douglas County, north of Elkhorn and northwest of the Standing Bear area, with Blair up the road to the northeast. Those are the same places the 2024 tornado path connected, and we work all of them, along with the farm ground and acreages in between.

FAQ

Gutter questions from Bennington

My Bennington gutters were reinstalled after the 2024 tornado and now overflow. Why?

Rushed reinstalls often skip the details: hangers spaced too far apart, little or no pitch toward the outlet, and dented downspouts put back up. Water stands in the low spots and spills over the front in a hard rain. We check the slope with a string line, add hangers where needed, swap damaged downspouts and reseal outlets so the system drains the way it should.

Can you document hail damage on Bennington gutters for my insurance company?

Yes. We photograph dents with a tape measure for scale, note crushed elbows and bent lips, and give you the photos and measurements to share with your adjuster. We do not handle the claim or predict an outcome, since that is between you and your insurer, but clear documentation makes the conversation easier and faster.

Should I add gutter guards while my Bennington house is being rebuilt?

If the gutters are going up new anyway, it is a good time. Fluff from cottonwoods and shelterbelt trees blows in each spring, and new yard trees will add leaves later. Installing gutter guards with new gutters avoids a second trip and lets us set them under the shingle edge or on the front lip correctly from the start.

What gutter size works for the newer two-story homes around Bennington?

Many of them do fine with 5-inch K-style gutters on simple roof faces, but faces with long valleys or a steep pitch often need 6-inch runs and 3x4 downspouts. We look at roof area, pitch and where valleys empty before recommending a size, so you are not paying for oversized gutters on every side of the house.
